Getting Ready for the Christmas Countdown!

I found this wonderful idea (especially necessary when you have one or more kids) over at Buzzings of a Queen Bee.  Here's a family friendly advent calendar!

Here's the genius - the advent calendar is made of boxes, so kids don't have to whine and fight over the treats - you can put enough in for everyone.  Plus it can be used year after year, all you have to do is restock the candy!

I bought the paper mache boxes for mine at Hobby Lobby.  They were 50% off during the grand opening.  You mod podge scrapbook paper over them, and then frame the whole thing.  I think it's brilliant. For more detailed instructions on how to do it, visit Buzzings of a Queen Bee.

I'm about to get started on mine, so I'll show you how it turns out when I'm done.  Granted, there's no rush, since Kate is an only child, but hey, I like my candy and I'm as likely as any kid to whine if I don't get my share :)

  1. I love this and want to make it for Bob and I. Hopefully I can find those boxes on sale somewhere!

  2. That's a really fun idea! I've never mod podged before, you'll have to teach me.
